Teaching is where the heart is...
Why do I want to become a teacher?
Many new teachers leave within the first 3-5 years of teaching. However, many rewards come with this career. Teaching is more than just a job, it's a calling. Teaching is a wonderful mixture of hard work and ecstatic success done throughout the year ranging between big or small. They keep their energy levels up by focusing on why they got into teaching in the first place. Teaching has many good things about it with the time off in the summer, to not such good things like working 12-hour days everyday. As I said before teaching is a calling you won't last if your there for the money and the time off.

Expected salary starting out as a Special Ed teacher in BISD district is about $30,000 a year. You get paid through the summer one pay check a month dividing it up is about $2,500 a month. Special Ed teachers get paid a little higher wage because of the job duties but it's not a huge increase.
Certification is required to be able to teach, multiple test with high scoring averages, in my case I have to be ESL certified to teach Special Ed with Ec-6th generalist. You have to have a 2.7 overall GPA to get in the teaching program with no criminal background what so ever... one night of drinking and fun can ruin your career. (We are teachers we lead by example)
